Husam is a skittish, intelligent stallion with his mind still set on returning home. If he ever gets the chance, he'll take off. He doesn't ever give you a second chance to try and reach for the reins. Suppose you do grab hold, though, be ready for the scenes of your life to pass over your mind. Though he may look like a gentle beast at first, he still holds an aggression that might get someone seriously injured. Even Dallas will admit to this, and he'll tell you straight up that he takes great precautions with him.
Still, even if he's skittish and sometimes extremely aggressive, he's a great horse. Dallas will tell you he wouldn't sell him for anything. Maybe it's just because Dallas has spent so much time with him, but both of them seem to have a mutual respect for each other. It's easy to see in the gentle way Husam reacts to Dallas and the independent acts he performs when Dallas is riding him. They're both a mutual match.
Background:
Husam al Din is a rescue horse bought from a rodeo. It would seem he has been through much in his life time. From what records show, he was originally a free stallion who was leader of a herd. When poachers round the herd up, police were able to get there before he was severely injured. Only a minor bullet wound in the leg, which had already gone straight through and healed. He was then sent to an Adoption, where they hoped to give him a good home. Unfortunately, the odds were highly unlikely due to the fact that he was aggressive toward anyone who came too close.
To their surprise, though, a man purchased him. Naming him Diablo, he became very well known throughout the rodeo as the stallion that couldn't be ridden. He became known as Diablo, Satan's Faithful Steed, and The Devil Horse. The cowboys who rode soon threatened to quit, though, if the horse was not gotten rid of. He was then sold to a 2nd chance ranch where they found his calmer side. He was then sold, again, to an old lady who simply needed a companion. Due to a sudden bankrupcy, he was sold to another rodeo where he gained most of his injuries.
He still has some unhealed scars over his body where he had been whipped. His left eye is gone, as well, with a swollen scar running down it. He is highly skittish, now, but a good horse none-the-less. And he's not going anywhere for a long while, this time.
